Playing catch-up

Vintage t-shirt from Etsy, vintage dungarees from eBay, choker from eBay, gifted Deathly Hallows necklace, vintage holographic pendant from Etsy, Deena & Ozzy Matilda shoes from UO, Debenhams white ankle socks, ASOS sunglasses

Despite my best efforts, it’s been a ridiculously long time since I last blogged, due to my final year at uni and other general life stresses. So much has happened since then, not least this:

That’s right - I graduated! I am now the proud owner of a BA in English. It was undoubtedly the toughest three years of my life, but (somehow) simultaneously the best.

Another important thing that’s happened is that I’ve really become passionate about feminism. I’ve always believed that women and men were equal, but I used to shun the title ‘feminist’, but now I see why it’s needed more than ever. Feminism is infectious, and I mean that in the most positive way. Learning about feminist theory has made me realise that I’m not alone in not accepting the world as it is, which is one of the reasons why I started this blog (I know I’ve promised this before, but the explanation is coming really soon). I now feel brave enough to blog about it, and I’m hoping that I can help annihilate the sexism which makes life unfair for both men AND women.

To completely change the tone in favour of banality, please forgive the creased dungarees – I think I’m allergic to being tidy!

Lazy-crazy

One of the things I've been trying to do lately is to wear more prints. Embroidery? Fine. Embellishments? I can do that. But something that has the same print all over it? I can't help but shudder. In all likelihood it's because I've been a poor student for over two years now, and a memorable printed item is just that - memorable - which means I feel I can't rotate it as much.

Chancing upon the latest Lazy Oaf Capsule Collection seems to have changed my mind completely. (I'm a bit late on this, I know!)

And then I got nosing around the site and fell in love with these too:

And my recent sock obsession wouldn't let me not post these:

Some of these items may seem a little bit pricey, but I actually purchased this hat from the ASOS sale the other day (pictures to come soon), and it's really good quality and very warm - essential for a freezing student house! In fact, I've just realised that I'm still wearing it now, hours after getting home... Not that I need much persuading in ordering some of these things soon, but what are other people's experiences of Lazy Oaf?

Peace.

Catch-up

So apparently this whole regular posting thing is just a bit beyond me... But I'm damn well going to try. Going to start with a catch-up.

After the hellish experience which was my summer exam, I was lucky enough to go to Bestival to have some fun and get atrociously drunk. Here are the only photos of me where I don't look like a complete mess:

Old t-shirt cut into a crop top, Levi's shorts, vintage belt, black Dr Martens, white ankle socks, white cat eye sunglasses from ebay (no longer in stock from the seller I got them from)

My new vintage Planet Hollywood denim jacket (better photos to come soon!); top, shorts, belt and boots as above; this sequin velvet choker from ebay (has slipped to the side); this scrunchie again; my genius festival invention of a mini-torch clipped to a lanyard

And how could I not show you a picture of me in my half-arsed Bestival fancy dress?

My mum's leopard print top, my pathetic attempt at this amazing tutorial.

In case you were wondering, my favourite acts were Major Lazer, Disclosure, Skream & Benga, Stevie Wonder, Jamie XX and Friendly Fires. If any of you go next year, be sure to check out the Arcadia stage too!

And then last month was my 21st birthday:

Top as above, these silver hotpants from ebay (why do I always let them ride up when I'm drunk?!), vintage bag, Deathly Hallows necklace was a present from my boyfriend

So far my third year uni workload has been mountainous, but fingers crossed I can apply my new-found concentration to this blog!

Over and out.

Another brick in the wall

Another day, another brick wall.

So my efforts to blog more regularly aren't going too well as my life is CRAZY busy right now. It's just so hard to find the time between housework, my summer job, seeing people, and revising for my summer - SUMMER! - exam. Maybe that's why I look so unintentionally moody.

Random too-short white t-shirt, old ASOS jeggings (similar here), Debenhams white ankle socks, turquoise Vans, this black velvet choker from ebay, old Matalan denim jacket, this scrunchie from ebay (on wrist)

My mum's got photos of me from the 90s where I'm wearing pretty much identical outfits to this - awkward. Couldn't resist adding a close-up of the faded floral print on my jeggings. Was it me or did leggings seem to be the only thing anyone ever wore in the 90s?! It really was the best decade to grow up in though; we had Pokemon, Zzzap!, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Power Rangers, Britney Spears... I'm trying to bring it back, one scrunchie at a time. What were your favourite things about the 90s? Let me know in the comment box, it's great to reminisce.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who's commented on my posts. You've all been so sweet and flattering, and it actually makes my day to see such wonderful feedback! I've also loved looking at all of your blogs and just generally nosing around!

A very bad blogger

Remember me?
I know, it's been a ridiculously long time since I last posted - nearly a year, in fact - but I swear I have a very good excuse. Or more accurately, a series of excuses: a lengthy illness, a tonsillectomy, falling behind in university work, missing exams... Oh, and my laptop died a slow death.
But now I'm back, and I swear that I will renounce my bad blogger ways (including replying to very old comments, sorry about that). I have so many ideas for features and outfits, and I just can't wait to share them!

Yesterday's outfit, before the heavens opened over England:

Contrast lapel jumper from a charity shop, BDG skinnies from UO, vintage leather biker jacket via etsy, Debenhams ankle socks, Underground creepers via Asos sale

As you can see, I am trapped in the 50s, and may never escape. These creepers were such a good investment, only £50 and I've been living in them for nearly a year now!

Until next time.

School's out

Well, uni's out. The end of my first year = 3 whole months of freedom, so I can't wait to be able to update this already-neglected blog a bit more regularly.

This is what I wore a few days ago when the weather was actually what you would expect of a summer's day as opposed to the horrific downpour that today brought, much to my disgust.

Ancient ASOS blouse, vintage belt from a charity shop, vintage Levi shorts from Beyond Retro, random white ankle socks, Office brogues, Mac lipstick in Ruby Woo, germ-infested Benicassim 2010 wristband, Tesco kettle.

So I've finally managed to dig out my SLR, and I've gone and bought myself the cheapest possible tripod from good ole' Asda, hence the better quality photos. Unfortunately my camera skills have almost completely disintegrated in the past few months so please bear with me!

This has been me since the end of exams - completely glued to my Gameboy. Retro, I know. And a bargain off eBay. Shocking that I still haven't managed to finish fucking Pokemon Yellow after 60+ hours of gameplay...

I promise that more interesting posts will be arriving in the near future, and this time from a mystery location. Stay tuned.

My uni uniform

Another Woolworths polo, Urban Outfitters jeans (the best fit ever), random white ankle socks, Office brogues.

As you may well have guessed, I'm back at university! So happy to return to my ridiculously big room (pure fluke, it used to be a double). I'm frantically typing this in between studying for a big presentation due tomorrow. The messy floor is courtesy of my junk food addicted boyfriend and the lack of time to unpack properly! Apologies for the shit quality of my webcam, must find my SLR cable and start using that instead.
This is pretty much my uniform to wear to lectures and the like. It's so easy to throw on when you have a hangover that feels like someone has trampled on your head. Ahhh, the student life.

Thought I'd add a quick make-up review which I hope will be the first of many. I've recently switched from Rimmel Exaggerate liquid eye liner to Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner, which comes in a tiny glass pot with a comparably dinky eye liner brush (I hope you can make this out in the photo). I immediately became a convert: the formula glides on so easily, there is less of a chance of it leaking painfully into your eyeball, and it is virtually smudge-free! However, I would suggest waiting a few minutes for it to dry, as if you do get a smudge, it is murder to rub off. (N.B. the lipstick is a Mac Matte one in Ruby Woo).

Also, just wanted to say a huge thanks to the people who have already commented on here :) How on earth did you guys find me?!
